Tendo-ryu Preservation Society Commemorative Lecture

  • 1 min read

To celebrate the establishment of the Tendo-ryu Preservation Society, we are pleased to present a special commemorative lecture by master armour craftsman Fumio Nishioka.

The lecture, titled "The Evolution of Japanese Armour from the Perspective of Protective Equipment," will explore how armour developed over time, focusing on its practical function as protective equipment rather than simply as an object of art.

Participants will have the opportunity to view an authentic Edo-period suit of armour while learning about its construction, purpose, and historical development.

This lecture marks the first official event of the newly established Tendo-ryu Preservation Society.

Date: Sunday, 28 June 2026

Time: Registration from 1:00 pm

Lecture: 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm

Venue: Shubukan Foundation

Admission: ¥3,000 (cash payment at the venue)

Students and children are admitted free when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

We warmly welcome everyone with an interest in Japanese martial traditions and cultural heritage.
